Five evenings at Riomaggiore Castle for stargazing!
Five appointments with free admission where you can admire the starry sky with telescopes guided by the Digital Astronomy Group. A unique opportunity for young and old, locals and tourists alike, to discover nebulae, galaxies and other elements visible only in summer.
The digital astronomy group, in collaboration with the Municipality of Riomaggiore, is organizing five evenings, from July 21 until September 23, during which it will be possible not only to admire the starry sky with telescopes but also to explore very topical issues such as climate change and the cleanliness of the sea.
FIRST APPOINTMENT: Thursday, July 21 at 9 p.m. at Riomaggiore Castle. Introducing the event was Claudio Lopresti, president and researcher of the Digital Astronomy Group. Dr. Silvia Pagnoscin, astrophysicist, will give a lecture entitled ‘Climate Change,’ and at 10 p.m. there will be sky observation with telescopes.
SECOND APPOINTMENT: Wednesday, July 27 at ‘La Sarticola’ farmhouse starting at 6 p.m. After dinner it will be possible to observe the sun and the summer sky.
THIRD APPOINTMENT: Wednesday, August 3, at 9 p.m., at Riomaggiore Castle. Engineer Giordana Bucchioni, an expert in electronics and robotics, will speak at the event, titled ‘At the Vault of the Moon. Observation with telescopes will follow.
FOURTH APPOINTMENT: Thursday, Aug. 18, at 9 p.m. at Riomaggiore Castle will be GAD President Claudio Lopresti’s lecture ‘In Search of Other Worlds. Observation with telescopes will follow.
FIFTH APPOINTMENT: Friday, September 23. The sky and stargazing will be preceded by a lecture by Marina Locritani, a researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, entitled ‘How clean is our sea?’
The events to be held at Riomaggiore Castle are free of charge and do not require reservations.
