Hiking in Cinque Terre is definitely something you need to experience, to fully appreciate and understand our region and our history. Walking from one village to the other is definitely a fundamental piece of the local puzzle.
You can then walk to both Riomaggiore and Manarola, provided you wear the right footwear and choose the path that best suits you. Here are some options:
- Porto Venere – Riomaggiore, path 598 to Telegrafo, then 593 (SVA), about 4h30 walk, difference in altitude 466m
- Manarola – Riomaggiore, path 501, then 530 and 532, about 2h30 walk, difference in altitude 110m
- Manarola – Riomaggiore, sentiero 501, quindi 530 e 532, 2h30 circa di cammino, dislivello 110m
- Corniglia – Manarola, path 506 and 586 via Volastra and Case Pianca, about 2 hours walk, difference in altitude 330m
Having said that, given the short distances between the villages and the frequency of trains and, during the day, also of ferries and private smaller boats, we’d recommend you stay here and every day select one or more paths to hike to get back to your accommodation at end of the day in just a few minutes. You’d avoid packing and moving every day and could enjoy a more relaxing experience and definitely lighter hikes…
